Clytha Ester Godbey

Clytha Ester Godbey, 86, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. She was born in Casey County, Kentucky on August 2, 1920, daughter of the late Luther and Mary Jane Floyd Salyers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a lifetime member of the Mt. Olive Christian Church. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Thomas L Godbey, two sons; Luther C. (Theresa) Godbey of Seneca, SC, Thomas Jr. (Evelyn) Godbey of Louisville, four daughters; Lemetta Dause of Richmond, Nancy Maddox of Mt. Sterling, Geraldine (David) Floyd of Science Hill and Jacqueline (John) Carman of Boerne, TX, three sisters; Martha Robertson of Waynesburg, Bertha Mae Fight of Wheelersburg, OH and Mary Elizabeth Carrier of Waynesburg, four brothers; Norman Salyers of Somerset, Jessie D Salyers of Liberty, Clifford Salyers of Bowling Green and Vernon Salyers of Middleburg, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Herman and John T. Salyers and three sisters; Betty Meeks, Estie Elliott and Myrtle Salyers. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Mt. Olive Christian Church with Bro. Greg Powell officiating. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill, Ky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
