Russell Thurman

Russell Thurman, 57, of Bronston, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 8, 1953, son of Fayrene Hudson Thurman and the late Lester Thurman. He worked in construction and boat sales before retiring. He accepted Christ and attended Quinton Baptist Church in Bronston, KY. Russell was first and foremost a grandfather, known lovingly to his grandchildren as "Pop". He was a rugged outdoorsman, who enjoyed being with his son, family and friends. His hobbies were hunting and most of all beating his community of friends in corn hole. He is survived by his wife, Alma Casada Thurman of Bronston, one son, Russell Shane & (Hope) Thurman, three grandchildren, Landon, Nathan and Katelyn, two brothers, Kenneth Ray Thurman of Bronston and Tony Thurman of Sloans Valley and one sister, Kimberly Thurman New & (Hershal Troxtell) of Somerset. He is also survived by special aunt and uncle, Tina and Joe Bill Thompson, best friend, Junior Nicholas and a host of neighborhood friends, whom he loved and laughed with, especially his little buddy Dylan. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Clifford Lee Thurman and one sister, Ruth Ann Carr. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmie Dishman officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
