Gertrude Wilson Sutton

Gertrude Wilson Sutton, 91 of Whitaker Road in Somerset, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Winfield, Tennesse on August 24, 1915, daughter of the late Marion and Minnie Duncan Murphy. She was a storekeeper for Wilson's Grocery, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and attended Camp Ground Baptist Church. She is survived by one stepdaughter, JoAnn & (Ron) Allen of DeLand, Florida, five nephews, James H. Stanley, Paul D. Stanley, Bill M. Duncan, Dwight E. Murphy and Oley M. Medekle, two nieces, Edna Faye King and Jerry Lou Hughett and two close friends, Dessie Girdler and Ellen Phelps. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jeff Wilson, her second husband, Vic Sutton, her parents, one stepdaughter, Vicki Sutton Martin, one brother, Edgar James Murphy and two sisters, Edna Murphy Duncan and Flora Murphy Medekle Stanley. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 9, 2007 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill with Bro. Daniel Harper and Bro. Norman Harper officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy go to Bethany House in Somerset.
