Franklin Buckner "Sonny" Burkett

Franklin Buckner "Sonny" Burkett, 65, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Ingle, Kentucky on August 13, 1946, son of the late Linville and Doris Kissee Burkett. He was a truck driver and a self employed diesel mechanic. He was an honorary member of the VFW Post #269 in Shopville. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Vaught Burkett of Somerset, one son, Franklin Brian & (Amanda) Burkett of Somerset, two brothers, Willis & (Charlotte) Burkett of Science Hill and Phillip Kissee of King George, VA, three sisters, Mereda & (George) Moore and Patricia & (Arthur) Vaught, both of Science Hill and Sheila & (Vernon) Baker of Somerset and four grandchildren, Kayla Darlene Burton, Kayla Marie Russell, Tyler Brian Burkett and Maddix Bryane Burkett. A graveside service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Cedar Point Cemetery. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
