Lola Frances "Gird" Spears

Lola Frances "Gird" Spears, 89 of Waddle Rice Road in Science Hill, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 at her residence. She was born in King Bee, Kentucky on October 15, 1917, daughter of the late George Washington and Elsie Moore New. She was retired from Indiana Glass Co. in Dunkirk, Indiana, where she worked in the sorting room and as a die cleaner. She was a member of Carter Ridge Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She is survived by two grandchildren, Stephen & (Janet) Spears of Science Hill and Linda Adams of Albany, Indiana, three great-grandchildren, Chad Spears of Science Hill and Jerrick Adams and Shannona Nicole Wright both of Albany, Indiana and a daughter-in-law, Jo Nell Spears Ruddick of Albany, Indiana. She was the oldest of ten siblings, six brothers, Delmer New, Elmer New, Velindo New, Nobel New, Bud New and James New and three sisters, Marie Yaden, Faye Taylor and Ida New. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Spears, who died on November 21, 1971, her parents and one son, Norman Spears, who died on May 4, 2001. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill with Bro. Chuck Hoskins officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
