Edgar Willis Campbell, 76, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 peacefully at his home.
Ed was born in Avawam, Perry County, Kentucky on September 23, 1935, son of Mae Joseph Campbell Maggard and the late Jason Campbell
He served actively in the military during the Korean Conflict from January 25, 1954 to January 11, 1957. His last duty assignment was the Headquarters Service Company, 6th Tank Battalion. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was retired from Burchfield & Thomas, Inc. General Contractors after 20 years of service as general superintendent.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and tending to his many hobbies on his property. He also loved spending time on his computer catching up on current events and on-line gaming.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Christine Wilson Campbell, whom he married on September 6, 1958 in Hamilton, OH. He is also survived by his 94 year old mother, Mae Maggard of Waynesburg, three daughters, Julie Ann & (Tony) Raines of Eubank, Vickie Lynn & (Gary) Lanigan of Richmond, KY and Yvonne & (Keith) Caudill of Waynesburg, three grandchildren, Jeannie Christie Lanigan Smith, Denton Keith Caudill II and Garrianna Lynn Lanigan Cooper, three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Allen Smith, Mason Cecil Hugh Smith and Norah Mae Cooper, who was born just hours after his passing. He is also survived by a special cousin, Doug Joseph of Waverly, OH and his favorite fishing buddy, Harold Smith of Waynesburg. He will also be missed by his constant companions Twister and Bruno.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Jason Campbell, stepfather, Arvil Maggard and his beloved son, Edgar Willis Campbell II.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday, October 21, 2011 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Pastor B.J. Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #18.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
