Irene Turpen Brown

Irene Turpen Brown, 90, of Nancy, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Mrs. Brown was born in Nancy, Kentucky on November 10, 1921, daughter of the late Bam and Winnie Simpson Turpen. She was a retired School Teacher and a member of Okalona Missionary Baptist Church in Nancy, Kentucky. Mrs. Brown had a passion for teaching, she was very proud of her 43 1/2 years of tenure in the Pulaski Co. School system. She will be fondly remembered by her family, former students and colleagues. Mrs. Brown is survived by a niece, Sandra & (Roy) Chapman, two great nephews Jason & (Trista) Chapman and Morgan & (Kelly) Chapman, two great great nephews Luke and James Chapman, and two great great nieces, Hunter Dupre` and Ramey Chapman. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Roma Brown, her parents, a sister Maxine Tarter, and a brother Duke Turpen, all of Nancy, Kentucky. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Wednesday November 23, 2011 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. John Zupancic officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery. A visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday November 22, 2011 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
