Gustav W. Hoffman

Gustav W. "Bud" Hoffman, age 92, passed away on May 21, 2007 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. He was born February 8, 1915 in Covington, KY to Gustav H. Hoffman and Clara Geimeier Hoffman, both of who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife of almost 63 years, Helen Hunter Hoffman, who died on January 31, 2002; one brother, Billy L. Hoffman; two sisters, Margaret Hoffman Herdtner and Clarabelle Hoffman Miller and one great-grandson, Kieran Hoffman. He is survived by one son, Michael W. Hoffman (and Marideth) of Clearwater, FL; three daughters, Karen L. Muse (and Russell) of Science Hill; Anne C. Tackett (and Brent) of Eubank, KY; Mary Beth Brown (and Tim) of Ashland, KY; one brother, John C. Hoffman (and Barbara) of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law. Mr. Hoffman was a former Somerset City Councilman, a position from which he resigned in 1954 after being appointed Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Somerset, KY. He served in that position for twenty-four years. He also served as Executive Director of the McCreary County (KY) Housing Authority for ten years. Mr. Hoffman was active in the Kentucky Housing and Redevelopment Association and served one year as its president. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, August 11, 2007 at First Christian Church with Rev. Joseph Altman officiating. Interment will be at Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 PM Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Capital Building Campaign of First Christian Church of Somerset, KY. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
