Robert Warren "Bob" Armstrong, 74, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born in Hudson Falls, New York on September 12, 1937, son of the late John Edward and Marie Balwin Armstrong Sr. He was general manager for New Life Industries and a member of Science Hill Nazarene Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. When Bob was younger, he loved to hunt and fish. He especially loved deep sea fishing. Bob had a special place in his heart for Renfro Valley, Kentucky where he and Betty ran "Betty's Gifts" for 17 years. He especially loved gospel and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Daulton Armstrong of Science Hill, three children, Debbie Bullock & (Scott Steinmetz) of Science Hill, Mona & (Wayne) Taylor of Somerset and Chad & (Season) Evans of Science Hill, three grandchildren, Shenoah Hood, Eric McKinney & (his companion Angela Mounce) and Jordan Taylor and five great-grandchildren, Austin Hood, Logan Mounce, Taylor Mounce, Riley McKinney and Kylie McKinney. Bob is also survived by four sisters, Sharon Green and Marie & (Jack) Close, both of Queensbury, NY, Carol & (Richard) Jenks of Hudson Falls, NY and Helen Blake of Queensbury, NY, five brothers, Jack Armstrong Jr. & (his companion Patty LeClair) of Hudson Falls, NY, Jerry & (Bonnie) Armstrong of Queensbury, NY, George & (Diane) Armstrong of White Hall, NY, Paul & (Alice) Armstrong of Florida and Thomas & (Ann) Armstrong of Queensbury, NY, brothers-in-law, Charlie Webster of Hudson Falls, NY and Mike Packer of Chestertown, NY, a host of nieces and nephews and Ronnie & (Mary Ellen) Dick of Science Hill, who was like a brother to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Warren "Robbie" Armstrong Jr., an infant sister, Sandra Lee, sisters, Kathryn Packer and Jane Webster, sister-in-law, Patricia Armstrong and brother-in-law, Robert Blake.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Norfleet Cemetery in Nancy, KY with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
