William R. "Ronnie" Messer, 48, of Whittier, California, formerly of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on March 11, 1963, son of William H. "Bill" and Zelma Mullins Messer. Ronnie was a graduate of Bryan Station High School, Lexington, KY, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his MA degree in Los Angeles, CA. He enjoyed traveling and designing creative advertisements; however, his passion was helping others. This was demonstrated by his career choice, that of a social worker. He especially enjoyed working with children, encouraging them to pursue their interests and talents; and, therefore making a better life for themselves. He made a difference in the lives of those who had the opportunity to know him.
He is survived by his parents, William H. "Bill" and Zelma Messer of Somerset, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, James William and Elizabeth Siler Messer and Walter and Nannie Mullins and a special aunt, Patsy Messer Wiggington.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, February 17, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Martin and Bro. Gilbert Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.
Visitation will be after 10 AM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
