Evelyn Violet Carlton Nicely, 91, of Science Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with her savior and Lord Jesus Thursday March 15, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 8, 1920, daughter of the late Milford Lee and Hanah Marie Hargis Mize. She was a homemaker, a member of Sinking Valley Baptist Church where she taught sunday school for several years, for the past several years she had attended the Norwood Holiness Church with her daughter Sue Anderson. She loved her church family, and loved reading her bible. She loved to put out a big garden, and she made many quilts, as well she loved her flowers. She also loved all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. She loved life and enjoyed it in a godly way.
She is survived by two sons, Londis Elza & (Carolyn Sue Poynter) Carlton of the Short Creek community and Dennis Wayne & (Norma Jean Pence) Carlton of Science Hill, two daughters, Wilda Sue & (Donald Ray) Carlton Anderson of Science Hill and Joyce & (Raymond Wayne) Carlton Poynter of Somerset, two brothers, Clinton & (Vera) Mize of Bethel, Ohio and Wilbur Jay Mize of Independence, KY, two sisters, Elva Mack of Batavia, Ohio and Eula Faye Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio, seventeen grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orville Lee Carlton, her second husband, Floyd Nicely, her parents, two sons, Carlis Lee Carlton, who died in infancy and Louis Jay Carlton, one daughter, Ruby June Carlton, three brothers, Lawrence Mize, Rex Mize and Francis "Frank" Mize and two sisters, Elsie Cross and Mildred Vaught.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris King officiating.
Burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
