Marion Kemper

April 10, 1925 — March 17, 2012

Mr. Marion Kemper, 86, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Eubank, Kentucky on April 10, 1925, son of the late Alonzo and Blanche Landes Kemper. Marion served in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during the Pacific and Mediterranean Theaters from Jan. 15, 1944 to Jan. 13, 1946. He married Myrtle Harris on April 14, 1948 in Newport, KY. They had two sons. He returned to Dayton, where he was self-employed building houses until 1961 when he moved his family back to Eubank, where they still reside. He was a commissioned Kentucky Colonel, June 24, 1986. He loved his Lord, family, church family, his little hobby farm, fishing and in general, he loved living. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Harris Kemper, one son, Michael Kemper of Somerset, one brother, Jesse Kemper of Eubank, four grandchildren, Hollie & (Doug) Koger, Matthew & (Tracie) Kemper, Brittany Kemper and Brooke Kemper and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Rainwater, Katherine Coleman and Shophia Letny. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Greg Kemper, seven brothers, Albert, Melvin, Virgil, Wilber, Lawrence, Chester and Orville Kemper and two sisters, Thelma Wagner and Mable Karnes. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Pastor Tracey Valentine officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
