Vernon G. Merrick, 67, of Lake Crest Drive in Somerset, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on January 13, 1940, son of the late Ernal and Bessie Scrimager Merrick. He was the owner and operator of Burger King and a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Jones Merrick, whom he married on December 16, 1961, two sons, Mark S. & (Margaret) Merrick of Somerset and Shelby G. Merrick of Charleston, South Carolina, five brothers, Lendon & (Lucy) Merrick, Ervel Merrick and Troy & (Elaine) Merrick all of Science Hill, Dale & (Enza) Merrick of Somerset and Wilbern & (Mary Evelyn) Merrick of Nicholasville, two sisters, Ruby & (Thomas) Shadoan of Somerset and Rose & (Dale) Stogsdill of Lexington, two grandchildren, Madeline Ann Merrick and Macie Carroll Merrick and a sister-in-law, Linda Merrick of Nicholasville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Merrick.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Shadoan and Bro. Sam Adkins officiating.
Entombment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
