Melba Murphy

Melba Murphy, 82, of Vaught Street in Somerset, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Buncombe, Kentucky on December 19, 1924, daughter of the late Elie Clayton and Vera Carolyn Cross Crabtree. She was a homemaker and a member of Ferguson Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Jim "Murph" & (Carol) Murphy of Somerset, five grandchildren, James Donald Robinson, Donna & (Dylan) Schutz both of Louisville, Kristi Murphy of Liberty Township, OH, Kevin Dick of Dallas, TX and Kendra & (Josh) Mounce of Somerset, twin great-grandchildren, Kalob and Hayley Roach of Liberty Township, OH and special friend, Donna Keith of Somerset. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Murphy, Sr., whom she married on August 5, 1942 and who died on June 21, 1994, her parents, one daughter, Janice Robinson and one sister, Mildred Jenkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Ferguson Methodist Church with Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 9 AM Saturday at the church. Donations may be made to the Ferguson United Methodist Church Building Fund. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
