Delores Mildred Whiles Ranshaw, (known as "Mim" all her life), died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at her youngest son Michael's home in Laurel, MS, whose wife and children were lovingly providing care for her in her last stages of Dementia.
She was born July 25, 1924, to Grandon Orestus Whiles and Martha Hannah Adams Whiles in Carthage, OH, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Carthage and Elmwood, OH, and attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati. She married Thomas Henry Ranshaw of Covington, Kentucky in 1947, who served four years in the Marine Corps during WWII and preceded her in death in 1980.
Always an active member in her church, she attended Deer Park Baptist Church and Landmark Baptist Temple in Cincinnati, OH. She and her husband Tom worked in the youth ministries and in later years the singles ministry at Landmark. She drove a school bus for Landmark Christian Schools as well as supervised the school kitchen and the before-and-after-school program for years.
Following her husband Tom's death in 1980, she married Charles V. Mullins and resided in Casey County, KY where she was active in community organizations such as Homemakers, Hospice, Casey County High School Boosters Club and Valley Oak Baptist Church.
She is best known for her love of people and especially of children. She never met a child she didn't like; they were all precious to her.
Her four children, Maurice "Bill" William (Kay Ann Apking), Monte "Pete" Grandon (Sarah Etheredge), Brenda Joyce and Michael Rae (Karen Aven) survive her, as well as grandchildren, Amy, Monte, Eva, Billy, Cherie, Sheila, Michelle, Philip, Shanna, Peter, Matthew, Molly, Elizabeth, Thomas, Maggie and Emma, great-grandchildren, Grayson, Katherine, Sarah Beth, Nathan, Abigail Catherine, Evan, Marisa, Taylor, Brett, Molly Catherine, Jamey and Michael, two sisters and a brother.
A visitation will be held from 6 PM - 8 PM Monday, November 5, 2007 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill, Kentucky and from 6 PM - 8 PM Tuesday at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home in Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Landmark Baptist Church in Ohio.
Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Helathy, Ohio.
