Doyle Gee Searcy, 75, Simpsonville, South Carolina, died at his home in Simpsonville.
He was born October 18, 1936, in Van Buren, Kentucky, son of the late Lewis E. Searcy and Marian Ashby Searcy. He was a Minister of Music and Minister of the Gospel for over 60 years. He served in churches in Kentucky, Illinois, Maryland, Alaska and Germany. He was a charter member of The Centurymen, an auditioned men's chorus of professional musicians who are directors of music in Baptist churches across America and from around the world, and had just returned from a concert tour with them.
Survivors include two sisters, Gayle Williams, Deer Lodge, Montana; and Glo Rita (and Jim) Sparks, Cox's Creek, KY; two brothers, Dwight (and Beverly) Searcy, Morning View, Kentucky; and Dr. Timothy Lewis (and Brenda) Searcy, Ailey, Georgia; a son, Michael (and Debbie) Searcy, Simpsonville, South Carolina; a daughter, Erin Kathleen Wells, Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren, Joshua Purcell, Tyler, Elijah, Hannah, and Jacob Searcy, Joshua Dudgeon; and 4 great grandchildren, Tate, Selah, and Charis Dudgeon, and Peder Purcell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlee Ann Mullins Searcy, whom he married on June 25, 1960 and who died on August 25, 2003 and his parents.
A celebration of Doyle's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Somerset, Kentucky, on October 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Tim Searcy officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012, at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill. A brief visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012, just prior to the memorial service.
