Finis Lee Childers

Finis Lee Childers, 68, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on October 7, 1944, son of the late Ray and Maudie Girdler Childers. He was retired from the Somerset Housing Authority and was a member of the Backwoods Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Wilda "Mick" Jones Childers, whom he married on October 31, 1961 in Somerset, two sons, Jeff & (Teresa) Childers of Winder, GA and Scott Childers of Somerset, one daughter, Donna Carter of Springfield, KY, two grandchildren, Michael Childers of Bradenton, FL and Katie Childers of Somerset, three brothers, Luther "Coy" Childress of Lexington, KY, Lonzie & (Precilla) Childers and Virgil & (Chestena) Childers, both of Somerset, three sisters, Marie Girdler and Laura & (Bob) Hargis, both of Somerset and Elizabeth & (Robert) Christian of Knoxville, TN and an aunt, Wanda Yates, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Albert, Lenoard, Eugene and Louie Childers and two sisters, Thelma Faye and Lucielle Childers. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
