James William Jones, 86, of Neighborly Way of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on June 12, 1921, son of the late James Monroe and Addie Martin Jones. He retired from USDA, ASCS office, a member of Woodstock Baptist Church and Woodstock Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Anderson Jones of Somerset, one son, Jimmy Dale "Jim D." & (Susie) Jones of Corbin, KY, son-in-law, Denton & (Patty) Ping of Somerset, granddaughters, Donna Shea & (Shawn) Lawson and Tara & (Rodney) Hamblin both of Corbin, KY, grandsons, Rodney & (Wendy) Ping and Brook & (Alice) Ping both of Somerset and Chris Ping of Lexington, KY and great-grandchildren, Bryson Lawson, Ty Hamblin, Emily Hamblin, Makayla Ping, Colton Ping and Camden Ping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Donna Kaye Ping, four brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Don Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
