Mabel Ellen Griffin Sweet Spears

Mabel Ellen Griffin Sweet Spears, 93, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Eubank, Kentucky on September 25, 1919, daughter of the late Clarence and Lourenda Stephens Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Johnny E. Sweet of Whitley City, KY; a daughter, Diane Dalton of Somerset, KY; one sister, Gwen Ramsey of Seven Mile, OH; eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by, her parents, her first husband, Everett Griffin, her second husband, Roscoe Sweet, third husband, Luther Spears, one daughter, Nadine Smith; five sisters, Myrtle Larkin, Jessie Acton, Carol Kazee, Vernell Ziggas, and Elaine Griffin; and two brothers, Harold Griffin, and Vernon Griffin. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Morris officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or Eubank Baptist Northern Pulaski Food Ministry.
