O. E. "Lindy" Sears

O. E. "Lindy" Sears, 89, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Dykes, Kentucky on April 10, 1923, son of the late Marlow and Lucy Warren Sears. He was a graduate of Somerset High School and served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was stationed in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. He was a believer in God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ. He was a member and Deacon of First Christian Church. He was self-employed working in the lumber and electrical businesses. He was a devoted husband and father who steadfastly cared for his wife and daughter through long-term illnesses. He was kind hearted, a great story teller and was well known and loved throughout the community. A life-long learner, he enjoyed reading and studying a wide variety of subjects. One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren and he loved to hear his grandson play the violin. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by one son, David W. & (Tammy H.) Sears, two grandchildren, Landon Warren Sears and Lara Katherine Sears, all of Danville, KY and one niece, Ann Sears of Norton, MA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zella Catherine Crawford, whom he married on August 19, 1946 and who died on January 27, 2006, his parents, one daughter, Linda Louise Sears, one brother, O. V. Sears and sister-in-law, Maxine Sears. A graveside service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Providence Cemetery with Bro. Troy Merrick officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Time of fellowship will be from 12:30 PM to 2 PM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the MS Society. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
