John A. Hensley Sr., 70, of Bethelridge, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on February 12, 1943, son of the late Henry and Mahala Allen Hensley. He was a retired truck driver and a full time gentleman farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Barber Hensley of Bethelridge, one son, John & (Sandy) Hensley Jr. of Clay City, KY, one daughter, Jeanetta Heeg of Bethelridge, three brothers, Willis Hensley, Henry Hensley and Chalmer Hensley and seven grandchildren, Leigh Hensley, Joel Heeg, Jonna Heeg, Danielle Hensley, Jacob Heeg, Kimberly Hensley and Madison Hensley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Messer and Deloris Duff. He was a son-in-law to the late Hershel Clay and Lucille Barber.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 10, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Haynes officiating.
Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 12 Noon Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
