Rhoda Mary Jasper

Rhoda Mary (Singleton) Jasper, 96, of the Shady Grove Community, daughter of the late John C. and Sarah Ellen (Black) Singleton, was born on November 27, 1911 in Wayne Co. and departed this life on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school classes for several years. In later years, she attended Center Post United Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter and designed her own patterns for several quilts. She loved everyone and was loved by all. She will be dearly missed by all of her family. She is survived by her children, Sylvia Seng of Crescent Springs, KY; Nina &( Kenneth) Burton of Franklin, IN; Shirley & (Fred) Salling of Duffield, VA; Alberta & (Dee) Taylor of Science Hill; Lloyd &(Edith) Jasper of Nancy, KY; Earl Jasper of Ludlow, KY; Berthel &(Sandra) Jasper of Blountville, TN; thirty grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, seventy great-great -grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vestle G. Jasper, who were married for 54 years, infant daughter, Goldie Faye Jasper; a son, M. C. Jasper; four sisters, Dessie Dick, Nannie Wilson, Elsie Wilson, Eva Collins; two brothers, Bluford and Dewey Singleton; two half sisters, Doshie and Nettie; a special grandson, Lloyd Wayne Jasper; granddaughter, Glenda Burton Barger, a great-granddaughter, Lydia Burkhead and a special daughter-in-law, Carol Jasper. Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church, with Bro's Richard West and David Bowlin officiating. Burial in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 12 pm Wednesday at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church until after services.
