William J. Smith

William J. Smith, 84, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Monroe, Michigan. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on August 2, 1929, son of the late Clellie and Faye Smith. He was retired from AT & T. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Flossie Godbey Smith, two sons, Mitchell Smith of College Station, TX and William Smith Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, one daughter, Jacqueline Haddix of Monroe, MI, one brother, Herbert Rowsey of Connecticut, six grandchildren, Donovan Haddix, Sean Haddix, Cory Smith, Jennifer Smith, Kristin Smith and Jason Whitfield and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bob Rowsey and one sister, Bernadine Myers. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Zandell Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Crab Orchard, KY. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 11 AM Wednesday at the church. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
