Jackie Glenn McGinnis, 72, of McGinnis Road in Bethel Ridge, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at Casey County Hospital.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 11, 1935, son of the late Edward Leslie and Lyda Patterson McGinnis. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant for the U.S. Air Force, having served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was a B52 gunnery specialist and one of the highest decorated veterans during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Postal Service and worked with disabled American veterans in Danville, KY.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Elaine Ashley McGinnis of Bethel Ridge, three sons, Don McGinnis of Bethel Ridge, James McGinnis of Mt. Sterling, KY and Wayne McGinnis of Trinity, FL, two daughters, Lesa McGinnis Boser of Springfield, MO and Balinda Profitt of Georgetown, KY, two brothers, Michael McGinnis of Scottsdale, AZ and Roger McGinnis of Ripley, OH, four sisters, Laverne Davenport of Liberty, KY, Laura Jacob of Cincinnati, OH, Janet Moore of Ripley, OH and Janie McGinnis of Florida, nine grandsons, three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leslie McGinnis and Ronnie McGinnis.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill, KY.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at the funeral home.
