Harold Loyd "Turk" Whiles

Harold Loyd "Turk" Whiles, 75, of Ebright Street in Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on July 3, 1932, son of the late Elva and Nellie Fugat Whiles. He was a laborer, truck driver, former employee of the State Highway Department and retired from Lowe's of Somerset. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Science Hill. Turk was a veteran of the United States Army in which he served his country in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Laverne "Tootsie" Calder Whiles, whom he married on June 28, 1952, two daughters, Fran & (Mike) Spillman of Somerset and Connie & (Rick) Wilson of Science Hill, three sons, Dallas & (Angie) Whiles of Franklin, KY, Eddie "Tub" Whiles of Science Hill and Tim & (Oreida) Whiles of Ferguson, eleven grandchildren, Stuart & (Becky) Spillman of Somerset, Shane & (Jill) Spillman of Somerset, Amber & (Jason) Lanham of Franklin, KY, Alisha Whiles of Science Hill, Nathan & (Alyssa) Wilson of Science Hill, Adam & (Melissa) Whiles of Franklin, KY, Toby Whiles of Science Hill, Seath Whiles of Ferguson, Zachary Whiles of Ferguson, Austin Whiles of Science Hill and Brenden Whiles of Science Hill, two step grandchildren, Courtney & (James) Key and Wil Pedigo, both of Franklin, KY, nine great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, three brothers, Floyd & (Pauline) Whiles, Leon & (Dorothy) Whiles and Dale Whiles, all of Somerset and two sisters, Olajean Abbott and Juanita Cash, both of Somerset. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ferrell Glen Whiles and Arnold Whiles and a daughter-in-law, Vickie L. Whiles. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Watts and Bro. Allen Moran officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
