Robert G. "Bob" Belcher, 68, of Hilltop Road in Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Oak Tree Baptist Regional Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on May 27, 1940, son of the late John Wess and Virda Potter Belcher. He retired after 21 years as a Kentucky State Police Trooper and was a member of Eubank Baptist Church. Robert loved bluegrass music, UK basketball, horseracing, coaching youth baseball and lots of fellowship with family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Belcher Reid & (Mike) of Greensboro, NC, two sons, Greg Belcher of Atlanta, GA and Brent & (Angie) Belcher of Bowling Green, KY, one brother, Gene & (Mary) Belcher of Somerset, two sisters, Violet & (Oral) Elkins of Youngstown, OH and Velma & (Kendal) Polston of Somerset, four grandchildren, Rusty Rutherford, Lindsey Reid and Ellie and Emily Belcher and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Donley Belcher, Conley Belcher and Harold Belcher and one sister, Shirley Dyer. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp (Boys & Girls), P.O. Box 473, Albany, KY 42602. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
