Edward Sears

Edward Sears, 89, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on February 21, 1924, son of the late William Robert and Sarah Helen Stogsdill Sears. He was a telecommunications employee for RCA. He enlisted in the US Navy on December 1942. He attended sonar school in San Diego, CA and Great Lakes, IL. He then served on the USS SC 774 and the USS SC 658. He was honorably discharged on November 1945. He is survived by two children, Pat Sears Eddinger & (John) and Edward Alan Sears & (Lin Hamilton), four grandchildren, Jennifer Eddinger Coutee & (Adam), David Eddinger & (Missy), Cory Sears Holloway & (Todd) and Jonathan Sears & (Anita) and nine great-grandchildren, Riley Coutee, Landon Coutee, Marin Coutee, Jackson Eddinger, Lucas Holloway, Payton Holloway, Kelsey Sears, Nathan Sears and Isiah Sears. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Mimi" Vitatoe Sears, whom he married on August 31, 1946 and who died on January 26, 1997, his parents and two brothers, Vestal Sears and Earl Sears. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, November 25, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will be in Barnesburg Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 AM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Center. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
