George Chester Abbott

George Chester Abbott, 89, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on May 9, 1924, son of the late George C. and Ida May Smith Abbott. He was a retired inspector for General Motors in Dayton, Ohio and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Opal Jean Hines Abbott, whom he married on July 5, 1948, three daughters, Sandra Ann & (David) Valandingham and Gwendolyn Smith, both of Middletown, OH and Denise & (James) Hoban of Springfield, OH, one brother, Tim Abbott of Somerset, three sisters, Ruth Anderson of Plainfield, IN, Jeri Barnes of Centerville, OH and Kathi Trick of Springboro, OH, four grandchildren, Jordan Abbott of Naples, FL, Corey Abbott of Lebanon, OH, Amanda Hoban and Andrew Hoban, both of Springfield, OH and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stephen Howard Abbott and son-in-law, Ronald Smith. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse and Bro. Brian Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 AM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
