Mary Bernice Brown

Mary Bernice Brown, 85, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1929, daughter of the late John Walter and Mary Alice Todd Brown. She retired as a Lab Assistant from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset, and a member of the Eastern Star. Bernice graduated from Eubank High School in 1948, and Belmont Business School in Nashville, TN. She worked at the Southern Baptist School Board in Nashville for approximately 20 years; returned to Somerset in 1971, and was employed at Somerset City & Lake Cumberland Regional Hospitals where she worked until retirement. She is survived by her sisters, Anna Brown of Woodstock, Wilma B West of Somerset, Rose & (Bob) Richardson of White Lily, and Berdina Grady of Greenwood, IN; two half-sisters, Elizabeth Robbins and Lora Anderson; two half-brothers, Thomas Brown and James Bradford Brown; nephews, Eugene Brown, Tony and Tim Richardson, Doug Grady; and a niece, Teresa Mundy; several great-nieces, and four great great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter Brown, Jr., and William H. Brown; a sister-in-law, Irene Brown. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Pendley officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Rockcastle, Co. Visitation for Ms. Mary Bernice Brown will be after 10 AM Monday, February 10, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home until time for services. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
