Opal Irene Sweet

Opal Irene Sweet, 80, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Kings Mt., Kentucky on May 1, 1933, daughter of the late Vonnie and Gladys Marie Pittman Pullum. She was a farmer. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Shelley and Alice & (Carlos) Howell, both of Waynesburg, KY, three grandchildren, Reva York, Jeffrey York and Melinda Shelley, two great-grandchildren, Zayden York and Lilly Osborne, Phillip Witt, whom she thought of like a son, of Waynesburg, KY, two half-brothers and four half-sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira B. Sweet, her parents, two daughters, Gladys Marie Sweet, who died in infancy and Brenda Sweet and one brother, Earl Pullum. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Jacob's Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
