Ernest W. Simpson

Ernest W. Simpson, 73, of West Highway 635 in Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in the Grundy community on April 15, 1935, son of the late John Franklin and Lillian Estella Turner Simpson. He was retired as a Chief Gunner's Mate G with the U.S. Navy and an appliance repairman. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Cook Simpson, one daughter, Judy Elaine Whitaker of Science Hill, four brothers, James Franklin Simpson of Jacksonville, FL, Norman L. Simpson of Shopville, William D. Simpson of Somerset and Albert S. Simpson of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters, Nannie J. Phelps of Shopville, Mariah E. Bray of Jacksonville, FL and Frances E. Nichols of Panama City, FL, six grandchildren, Thomas, Warren, Joshua, Rodger and Elizabeth Simpson and Michael Brewster and six great-grandchildren, Gage, Danielle, Zandra, Jessica, Megan and Myia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rodger Wesley Simpson and one brother, Thomas J. Simpson. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 25, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Grant Hardwick officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
