Bert Lee Deatherage, 84, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky on January 28, 1924, son of the late Henry and Bessie Carrier Deatherage. He was a retired foreman for the State Highway Department and a member of Eubank Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and receiving a purple heart. Bert loved to hunt, fish and tell a tale or hear one.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geneva Burton Deatherage, one daughter, Berta Sue & (Dale) Ware, one granddaughter, Tressa Ann Ware Godby, one grandson, Nathan Dale & (Karen) Ware, one great-granddaughter, Emily Nicole Godby, all of Eubank, one step daughter, Janice & (Doug) Dickens of Crestwood, KY, one step grandson, Ronnie & (Vicki) Stephens, one step great-grandson, Parker Stephens, all of Sulphur, KY and one sister, Beulah Dick of Cincinnati, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Maurice Deatherage, Charles Deatherage, Arnold Deatherage and two who died in infancy and one step granddaughter, Jennifer Stephens.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
