James G. "Jim" Slusher, 84, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Berea, Kentucky on February 29, 1924, son of the late John Gilbert and Rosa Hutchins Slusher. He was retired from General Motors as a material shipping and handling supervisor. He was a member of Somerset Baptist Temple and a duel member of the Woodstock Masonic Lodge #639 and Masonic Lodge in Ohio for over 50 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Benson Slusher, one son, James C. Slusher of Somerset, two daughters, Linda Jean Hundley of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jo Marie Slusher of Kalamazoo, MI, three brothers, Donald Slusher of Decatur, TN, Eddie Slusher of Monroe, OH and Lloyd Slusher of Boardman, OH, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Robert, Vernon, Benjamin and William "Bill" Slusher and two sisters, Mary and Anna Marie Slusher.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, August 11, 2008 at Somerset Baptist Temple with Bro. David Carr, Bro. Charles Bullock and Chaplain David Green officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Sunday at the church. Woodstock Masonic Lodge #639 will hold a Masonic service at 6 PM Sunday.
