Roberta Jean Haste, 80, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Somerset Nursing & Rehab. She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on May 10, 1934, daughter of the late Ezra and Ethel Hall Girdler. She was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at Midway Restaurant and Dinner Bell Restaurant. She was a member of Cumberland Church of Christ. Roberta is survived by two daughters, Bernice Charlene & (Lonnie) Eldridge and Ruby Colleen & (Ben) Eldridge, both of Somerset, four grandsons, Bobby & (Christy) Eldridge of Nancy, Robbie Eldridge, Nathan & (Emily) Eldridge and Jonathan & (Mona) Eldridge, all of Somerset and eight great-grandchildren, Whitney Eldridge, Cody Eldridge, both of Somerset, Natosha Eldridge of Nancy, Zack Eldridge, Braxton Eldridge, both of Somerset, Cole Eldridge, Connor Eldridge and Mattie Grace Eldridge, all of Nancy. She is also survived by many friends and relatives that were very special to her. She enjoyed all of her friends at Beecher House Apts. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Ethel Girdler, her husband of 50 years, Harold L. Haste, an infant daughter, three brothers and two sisters, Ralph Girdler, Henry Girdler, Lawrence Girdler, Mae Girdler and Louisa Soja and one great-grandson, Kent Gregory Eldridge. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Bialon officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
