Beatrice Sawyers

Beatrice Sawyers, 90, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Clay County, Kentucky on December 16, 1923, daughter of the late Henry Monroe and Nancy Garrison. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved working in her garden and flowers and watching her birds on her bird feeders. She is survived by two daughters, Marie Mink and Bertha Burdine, three half-brothers, five granddaughters, Betty & (Rick) Ping, Jean Sawyers, Alisha & (Jimmy) Thomas, Kim Goodin and Jessica & (Brian) Slavey, one grandson, Allen & (Rhonda) Slavey and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank V. Sawyers, whom she married on September 26, 1947 and who died on June 21, 2006, daughter, Marcia June Slavey, son, Michael Sawyers, son-in-law, James Slavey, eleven brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
