Flossie Jean Smith

Flossie Jean Smith, 78, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014. She was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on January 25, 1936, daughter of the late Mitchell Franklin and Ethel Britton Godbey. She was a nurse for Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan for 25 years and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Mitchell Smith of College Station, TX and William Smith Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, one daughter, Jacqueline Haddix of Monroe, MI, six grandchildren, Donovan Haddix, Sean Haddix, Cory Smith, Jennifer Smith, Kristin Smith and Jason Whitfield and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Smith, who died on August 29, 2013, her parents, brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Zandell Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Crab Orchard, KY. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at Liberty Baptist Church. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
