Gorman Ray Shelley, 81, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center, following a long illness. He was born in Whitley County, Kentucky on January 5, 1933, son of the late Francis and Edith Lester Shelley. Gorman retired in 1995 as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was saved by the grace of God at the age of seventeen. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian Durham Shelley, whom he married on January 30, 1954, four sons, Gorman Lee & (Stacy) Shelley, Wayne & (Donna) Shelley and Tony Shelley, all of Eubank and Danny Shelley of Sandy Hook, KY, his grandchildren, Tyler Shelley of Pulaski, TN and Jessica Shelley of Jacksonville, NC, two sisters, Ruth Start and Anna & (Wes) Bowlin, all of Emlyn, KY, six brothers, Linville Shelley of Morrow, OH, Arnold & (Patsy) Shelley of Independence, KY, Clifford & (Lola) Shelley, Lester & (Wanda) Shelley and Robert & (Karen) Shelley, all of Williamsburg, KY, sister-in-law, Peggy Shelley of Williamsburg, KY, several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Herbert Shelley, Glen Shelley and Morris Shelley. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Slade Moore officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
