Boyd M. Tucker Sr., 81, of Fairway Lane in Somerset, Kentucky, left his earthly home for his heavenly home on September 5, 2008.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on September 6, 1926, son of the late Orville and Mary Dowd Tucker. Boyd was a lifetime resident of Somerset, having been raised on Jasper Street with all his school years being in Somerset. He was a Korean War veteran and a funeral director for 50 years. He was a member of Somerset School Board, rotary club and a devoted charter member of Grace Baptist Church. Boyd was a kind, compassionate man, with a big heart and love for everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Singleton Tucker of Somerset, one son, Boyd "Bud" & (Raeann) Tucker Jr. PH.D and daughter, Lacey, of St. Amant, LA, one step daughter, Debra & (Jeff) Stagg of Wooten, KY, two step grandchildren, Shanon & (Dave) Kessinger of Louisville and Jay & (Stacy) Stagg of Somerset, three great-grandchildren, Riley, Kaden and Leah Kessinger, who was greatly loved by their "Pop", two sisters, Mary & (Irvin) Muse and Christine Wallen, both of Somerset, sister-in-law, Gweny Tucker of Lexington, KY, nieces, Becky & (Ernie) DeBord, Sandy & (Wendell) Denney, Mary Ann Jones and Camille Jones, nephews, Mike Tucker, John Jones and Mike Muse and special caregiver, Tater Moran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Elaine "Tommy" Tucker, his parents and one brother, William Orville Tucker.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Haynes officiating.
Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 11 AM Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Max Shearer, Max Beasley, Jim Wilson, Van French, Jerry Down and the church staff. Honorary pallbearers will be Boyd's Sunday School class and all funeral directors.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund.
