Howard Vernon Burchfield

Howard Vernon Burchfield, 78, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Poplarville, Kentucky on October 7, 1935, son of the late Henry Clay "Hank" and Mable Farmer Burchfield. He was an electrician for Somerset Community College and a member of Science Hill Christian Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Vernon loved to sing gospel music and watching UK basketball. He is survived by his wife, Mary Geneva Parker Burchfield, whom he married on October 17, 1981, one daughter, Lisa Gayle & (Tom) Ford of Alabama, two step sons, Jack & (Diane) Logsdon of Science Hill and Perry & (Celeste) Logsdon of Somerset, two brothers, H.C. & (Faith Ann) Burchfield and Ronald J. Burchfield, both of Somerset, one sister, Portia Mae Pruitt of Somerset, three grandchildren, Jasie Logsdon, Wesley & (Alicia) Logsdon and Bradley Logsdon, one niece, Terry & (David) Bradshaw, two special friends, Jimmy and Barbara Moore and special cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gordy Prather and Bro. Darrell Vance officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 AM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
