Alice Lora Broughton

Alice Lora Broughton, 72, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Norwalk, Ohio on August 1, 1942, daughter of the late Fred and Rose Derby Blackmar. She was a medical technologist for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where she worked for 27 years. She attended Union College then transferred to the University of Louisville Medical School where she graduated with a degree in medical technology. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Norwalk, OH. She is survived by one brother, Stewart Michael Bowlin of Norwalk, OH; and a special friend, Emma Hutcheson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Arnold Broughton and her parents and long-term partner, Carl Brent Lay who passed away in 2012 . A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10 AM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
