Kenneth Lee Davis, 72, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on February 13, 1942, son of the late Lonnie "Buster" and Ila Mae Dick Davis. He was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he served as a detective for 30 years. He also served on the Somerset Police Department for 3 years prior to that. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 28 months. He was a Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Somerset.
Kenneth is survived by his three children, Lonnie & (Kim) Davis of Somerset, Missy Ingram of Somerset and Shannon & (Kevin) Hall of Waynesburg, KY, seven grandchildren, Zachary, Kelby, Noah and Haily Davis of Somerset, Seth Ingram of Somerset and PFC Keenan & (Makayla) Hall of Waynesburg, KY and Kyler Hall of Waynesburg, KY, one sister, Joyce Ann Patterson of Somerset, special friends, Betty and Gary Jenkins of Oklahoma and a very special friend and cat, "Bob".
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Beatrice Helton Davis, formerly of Pineville, KY and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was known as "Big Papaw" by all who knew and loved him. He was loving, kind hearted, funny and humble. You could talk to him about anything at all and he was never judgmental. He had a beautiful smile, a precious chuckle and bright blue eyes that always twinkled. What a beautiful soul he was.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Butcher officiating.
Burial will be in King Bee Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
