Juanita Faye Ruckel Back

Juanita Faye Ruckel Back, 88, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Somerwoods Nursing & Rehab. She was born in Eubank, Kentucky on September 30, 1926, daughter of the late Henry and Ruby Spaw Ruckel. She was a homemaker and a member of Buncombe Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Juanita was the oldest of ten children and from a very young age, she helped with their care. She left Eubank as a teenager and went to live with an aunt and uncle in New Castle, Indiana to find a job. One of her jobs was at Shachs Rubber Plant painting tanks so the hole would close if they were penetrated by a bullet, supporting the World War II effort. Coy sent her a letter after receiving an Easter card from her and she immediately came home and five months later they were married on her birthday. Juanita was a caregiver for many people including her husband, brother-in-law, parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and many others. She is survived by her husband, Coy E. Back, whom she married on September 30, 1948, three children, William Harold & (Esther Fernandz) Back, Virgie Faye & (Roy) Barnes and Barry Eugene Back, four grandchildren, Leah Barnes & (Benjamin) Ferro, Ruth Back & (James) Latoff, Royce Barnes and Richard & (Christina Hayes) Barnes, three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Roy Ferro, Gideon David Ferro and Levi Coy Ferro, siblings, Linville & (Doris) Ruckel, Lewis & (Peggy) Ruckel, Lloyd & (Donna) Ruckel, Wilma Jean & (Billy) Daniels, Betty Jane & (Tommy) Allen, Leland Ruckel, sister-in-law, Emma Ruckel and many church members that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Larry P. Ruckel, Leonard Ruckel and an infant brother, Winfred Ray and sister-in-law, Evelyn Ruckel. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Phelps and Bro. David Morris officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or The Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
