Noble Dallas New, 92, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at his home with family.
He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on February 5, 1922, son of the late Dewey Smiley New and Flossie Elizabeth New.
Noble was a WWII Army veteran, who served in Northern France and Germany. After being discharged in December of 1945, he returned home and married Lodena Pauline Robinson on April 4, 1946. Together they had five children; Michael Noble New, Jeanne Ellen New McKinney, David Wayne New, Elizabeth Ann New Neal and Patricia Ilene New.
Noble and Lodena were in the grocery and general store business. They served many customers in Pulaski and Lincoln County. Most notably at Bandy in northern Pulaski County and McKinney in Lincoln County. Many of his customers knew him by his nickname of "Barefoot". They partnered with their daughter, Elizabeth, in 1976 shortly before Lodena passed away in October of that year. Noble married his second wife, Myrtle Mae Wall Salyer on May 24, 1979. They continued running the store in McKinney for many years and had contact with people from all of Lincoln County. He was a member of McKinney Baptist Church.
Noble is survived by his son, Michael & (Beverly) New of Eubank, who he lived with for the last two years, his daughter, Jeanne McKinney of Eubank, his grandchildren, Marty Lee New, Scotty Wayne & (Kristy) New, Shannon Vince & (Sherry) McKinney, David Shane & (Tonya) New, Jeanne Michelle & (Jason) Moore, great-grandchildren, Natasha Lynn & (Brian) Holt, Sherman Chance McKinney, Zachery Wayne & (Michelle) New, Johnathan Hiram New, George Dallas New, Kara New, Danielle New, Martika Christina Martin, Keisha LeAnn & (James) Pitman, sister-in-law, Mary Smith, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Noble was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Flossie New, his first wife, Lodena New, his second wife, Mae New, his children, Patricia New, David New and Elizabeth Neal, his grandson, Shawn Arthur McKinney and his stepdaughter, Chris Moore.
Special recognition to his daughter-in-law, Beverly New, who has cared for Noble the last two years of his life. She has sacrificed her time and energy to make him comfortable and happy. The family wants to thank Stephanie Bullock and Brittany Bray for helping Beverly care for Noble. Thank you to Pauline and the late David Watts for helping Noble the last years he lived at home in McKinney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
