Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton, 88, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at Lakeridge Villa in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born in David, Kentucky on February 21, 1926, son of the late James Porter and Della Centers Hamilton. After serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific for 3 years during World War II. He graduated from Louisville School of watch making and served as a watch maker and manager for Dodd Jewelers in Cincinnati, OH. In the year 1951, he became an ordained minister and worked and built many churches and pastored a church in Wellston, OH. In 1954, he became the pastor of Waynesburg Church of God of Prophecy, where he built a new building on Cemetery Road. He was an accomplished builder, stone mason, brick layer and carpenter. He built and developed Hamilton Homes subdivision in Waynesburg and was a union brick layer for over 50 years. He is survived by Sharon and Joan Hamilton, siblings, Bonnie Buckner, Carol Sue Hamilton, Kenneth R. Hamilton and Herman Hamilton, many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James W. Hamilton, Roy Hamilton, Paul Hamilton and Jimmy Lynn Hamilton. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at New Life Church of God of Prophecy in Waynesburg with Bro. Sam Smith officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Wednesday at New Life Church of God of Prophecy. Donations may be made to New Life Church of God of Prophecy. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
