Dick Sowders

Dick Sowders, 70, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 1, 1944, son of the late Richard and Zienna Watson Sowders. He was operator of a cattle ranch and a U.S. Army Paratrooper. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hopkins Sowders, two sons, Rick Sowders and Randy Sowders, all of Science Hill, one brother, Jerry Sowders of Harrison, OH, three grandchildren, Richard Josh Sowders, Jordon Sowders and Kyle Sowders and one great-grandchild, Richard Brantley Sowders. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Woodcock and Bro. Stan Childers officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
