Gerald Lee VanHook, 63, of Highway 1676 in Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 21, 1944, son of the late Arlis G. and Wilma Phelps VanHook. He was a former co-owner of Lakeland Insulation Company and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Keith VanHook, whom he married on January 7, 1974, four children, Cammy VanHook, Brandon & (Jackie) VanHook, Kevin Prater and Lisa & (David) Cook, all of Science Hill, four grandchildren, Bailey VanHook, Caitlyn VanHook, Ashley Cook and Tyler Cook, three brothers, Francis & (Peggy) VanHook and Marlin & (Jeanetta) VanHook, both of Somerset and Arlis Jr. & (Margaret) VanHook of Osseo, MI and one sister, Doris & (Mark) Stringer of Somerset.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Ann Purvis.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
