Ernest Barnette, 83, of East Highway 70, in Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Langnau, Kentucky on November 9, 1925, son of the late Virgil Barnette and Minnie Durham Hubbard. He was a longshoreman and of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II and Korean War U.S. Army Veteran having served for seven years. He was a member of the VFW in Washington State.
He is survived by one son, Larry & (Rhonda) Whitis of Camden, OH, two daughters, Marty & (Mike) Myers of Eaton, OH and Susan & (Dexter) Mobley of Eubank, sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Feltner Barnette, who died on November 19, 1996, his parents, one son, John Whitis and one daughter, Julia Whitis.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 12 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
