Victor L. "Vic" Vaught, 82, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following a short illness.
He was born in Carthage, Ohio on August 18, 1932, son of the late Luther and Goldie Weddle Vaught. He was a graduate of Science Hill High School in 1950, Lindsey Wilson College with an A.A. degree in 1952, University of Kentucky with a B.S. degree in Agriculture in 1957 and completed course work for a master's degree in social science in 1958. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where he served as church treasurer for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war from 1953 to 1955. He worked for nine years for the USDA, Soil Conservation, as a soil scientist. During this nine years, he worked at Murray, KY, Hazard, KY and Irvine, KY. He retired after 27 years with the Department of Transportation. He was also the City Clerk and Treasurer for the city of Science Hill for forty plus years.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie & (Jim) Denney of Eubank and Linda Stephens of Science Hill, one brother, Vernie Vaught of Science Hill, two sisters, Verlie Waddle of Chattanooga, TN and Viola Crase of Clarksville, IN, two grandchildren, Mark & (Kim) Denney of Somerset and Scott Stephens of Science Hill, two great-grandchildren, Connor Denney and Clara Denney and special friend Lalla Losey of Science Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue Cain Vaught, whom he married on March 24, 1954 and who died on January 26, 2012, his parents, one brother, William Venston Vaught and two brothers-in-law, James Waddle and Dauphus Crase.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Muse and Bro. David Muse officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
