Lewis Edward White, 81, of Science Hill, Kentucky, went to sleep on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital at 3:21 AM and woke up in his Heavenly Home.
He was born in Mt. Zion, Kentucky on March 13, 1933, son of the late Charlie and Tiny Peeples White. He was saved in his youth and was a member of First Baptist Church of Science Hill. He proudly served his country for twenty three years in the United States Navy. His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, UK basketball and most of all watching his grandchildren play.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Frances Stogsdill White, whom he married on November 11, 1965 in Elisabeth City, North Carolina, a daughter, Kathy & (Danny) Hines of Science Hill, two sons, Tony & (Jody) White of Pennsylvania and Wesley & (Annette) White of Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren, James & (Gina) Hines, Steven & (Jennifer) Hines, Derek Hines, Danny Jo & (Crystal) Hines, all of Science Hill, James, Loryn and Jeremiah White, great-grandchildren, Dustin, Austin, Brian Boutillier & (Brooke), Casey, Jason, Adrian, Rylee, Chasity, Chelsea Hines, Colton and Kelby White, one great-great-grandchild, Kierstyn Steele and sister, Nellie White of Science Hill. His family was the light of his life, especially watching the young ones play.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Lewis E. White and Eddie White, a brother, Ancil White and sister, Mary White Bell.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, March 6, 2015 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Evans, Bro. Thurston Mounce and Bro. Ed Massey officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
