Judy Kay Godbey Hurt, 71, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Bethelridge, Kentucky on April 11, 1943, daughter of the late Luther and Alene Martin Godbey. She was a teacher's aide for Eubank Elementary and a dairy farmer.
Judy Kay was a resilient woman, complete with a great sense of humor and deep love for family. Regardless of good days or bad, she was a fighter, an immensely strong woman who rarely complained but always uplifted others. Her outlook on life was contagious; her work ethic and determination were an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. Judy Kay was and continues to be a great example by which to live. Her realism coupled with her genuine love and unique sense of humor made for a wonderful woman. Judy Kay is loved eternally by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Hurt, whom she married on September 9, 1960, three sons, William & (Mitzi) Hurt of Stanford, KY, Chris Hurt of Eubank and Scott & (Christi) Hurt of Lexington, KY, two daughters, Anita & (Steve) Caron of Science Hill and Amy & (Zyndall) Haste of Somerset, eight grandchildren, Stephanie & (Justin) Caron-Gillis, Matthew Logan Hurt & (Bridgett Weger), Darin & (Emilee) Haste, Jonathan Caron, Allison Haste, Amelia Hurt, Lauren Hurt and Daniel Hurt and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Gillis and Maximus Hurt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Perry Godbey, one sister, Joann Linblad and one grandchild, Mark Allen Haste.
Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM Friday, March 13, 2015 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
The family requests donations to the Pulaski County Marching Band Boosters Club for the Mark Allen Haste Scholarship Fund.
